Hilltop Sheepdog Trial 2025
Bob Switzer is a name which is known very well across Canada and the world when it came to the Black Angus breed and the world of livestock. He was a testament to those who live the cowboy values - family, friends and doing what is right. Bob had a strong belief in the younger generations, and supported many Junior Angus shows, 4-H and High School Rodeos. In 2016, Bob was given the highest honor when he was inducted into the Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame. His life touched many, and the Hilltop Sheepdog Trial was fully supported by Bob. Bob could be seen bringing Ministers of Agriculture out to watch the dogs, entertaining judges on their day off, and chiding his friends when "his dogs" did better than others.
We are pleased, with the help of an anonymous donor, to have the Bob Switzer Award. This award ($200) will be given to an individual, like Bob, who has done much in the way in paving the path for new handlers. - through helping them train, putting on and helping at trials, and being involved in stockdog clubs. Their unselfishness to the sport aids to ensure the sport continues into the future.
In 2024, we are pleased to offer, on behalf of Steve Davie and Family at DGN Stockdogs, a buckle to the handler who shows good stockmanship during the trial. We at Hilltop Sheepdog Trial thank Steve and his family for offering this acknowledgement to the deserving winner.
